Foster Care & Adoption Live Q&A Sessions

Join the A Family for ME program for a live, virtual conversation about becoming a foster/adoptive parent in Maine. Recruitment Specialists will be answering your questions about the different ways to provide care for infants, teens and siblings. If you’ve ever considered foster care or adoption, this is a great opportunity to learn more and get your questions answered! Learn about the licensing process; explore the various ways to provide care and support Maine youth, including respite care; and discover ways to support foster families. Sessions will be held on the 2nd Monday of every month. Choose 12-1p OR 6-7pm. No Fee.

Kasey McDonough is the Recruitment Specialist for Kennebec and Somerset counties. She is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Kasey is an Americorps alumnus with previous experience in group home management, therapeutic foster care, and working with children with special needs. Kasey joined the AFfME team to pursue her passion for helping children find safe and loving homes. In her personal time, Kasey is an artist who enjoys spending time with her family on the water.

Using basic and gentle yoga moves along with breathwork to bring both flexibility and relaxation to the students. This class is designed to assist in reducing stress as well as creating a practice you may use at home to increase your own flexibility and balance.

Free Harvest for Worm Composting Alumni

This will be a free session for any interested composting alumni. The instructor will inspect worm bins, demonstrate and assist with harvesting, and answer any questions. The instructor will bring harvest kits for alumni to use for harvesting their own worm bins.

Train to become a working Registered Maine Guide not just a test taker. Learn the skills that guides use daily including: map & compass, coastal navigation, shelter building, separated client searches, cooking, canoeing, snowshoeing, SUP’ng, plus specialty skills for recreation, sea kayaking, tide-water fishing, inland fishing, and hunting future guides. This ten-session hybrid program includes Zoom, optional all-day skill workshops, and homework assignments. Optional skills workshops are at an additional cost. Those thinking of becoming a Registered Maine Guide will need to take a first aid and CPR course, not included. 

This is a Zoom class. Please make sure to register with an accessible email.

This is a great workshop for anyone who wants to learn more about nutrition, healthy eating, and meal planning - regardless of diagnosis!
