Cirque Du Soleil in Portland

Cirque Du Soleil is coming to Portland this summer, bringing their first ever experience on ice. Reviewers say “if Crystal comes to an arena near you, don’t miss it.” Crystal, the misfit heroine, takes you on an exhilarating tale of self-discovery as she dives into a world of her own imagination. Watch world class skaters and acrobats claim their new frozen playground with speed and fluidity as they challenge the laws of gravity with never before seen acrobatics. Crystal invites you to suspend reality and glide into a world that springs to colorful life with astounding visual projections and a soundtrack that seamlessly blends popular music with the signature sound of Cirque Du Soleil Seating is in Section G Rows 2-5. We’ll head over to Cracker Barrel for dinner (on your own) after the show. Registration fee includes motor coach transportation and show ticket. Deadline to register is April 30. No refunds after this date.

DIY Father's Day Gifts with Essential Oils

Come join us and make some unique and useful gifts for that special man in your life or even yourself! We will be making Father’s Day gifts with essential oils. These gifts will be appreciated as a thoughtful expression of your caring. You will have a choice: shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing cream, shaving cream, aftershave, beard oil and possibly more. Students will be able to make 1-4 items. A materials fee of $20 is due to instructor at the first class.

The Vanderbilts used to enjoy summer in Newport, Rhode Island and you can too! Join us for this two-day trip to experience one of America’s most famous summer playgrounds. This will be a great trip for garden enthusiasts but will also appeal to others who want to enjoy this fabulous coastal location. Newport’s signature event, the annual Newport Flower show, will be the star attraction. Enroute to Rhode Island we’ll visit the Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston Ma. Our docent guided tour leads us through a year-round display of 17 carefully planned gardens and collections of ornamental, edible and native plants. Lunch on Friday is at O’Connor’s Restaurant in Worcester where they serve New England fare seasoned with Irish hospitality. Our overnight accommodations are at the newly renovated Holiday Inn in South Kingston, Rhode Island. Friday will be a full day of activities starting with a guided tour of Newport showcasing the rich and famous who once enjoyed this seaside town. We’ll then have plenty of time to visit the Flower Show, offering visitors fun, flowers, food, fantastic shopping experiences, spectacular garden displays and so much more, all located in and around one of America's most beautiful and storied Gilded Age mansions, Rosecliff. Lunch today is something special – a “speakeasy” high tea complete with an interactive murder mystery. Whisper the password for entry, meet some prohibition boot leggars and help solve the mystery, but stay alert for a possible raid!.Late afternoon takes us to Green Animals Topiary Garden to enjoy more than 80 pieces of topiary including animals and birds, geometric figures and ornamental designs. Dinner tonight is family style at the well- known Wright’s Farm in Harrisville. Registration fee includes motor coach transportation, Tower Hill tour, Newport Flower Show, guided tour of Newport, Green Animals Garden Tour, murder mystery performance, two luncheons, one dinner and overnight accommodations.

Worm Harvest Night

This will be a free session for any interested composting alumni. The instructor will inspect worm bins, demonstrate and assist with harvesting, and answer any questions. The instructor will bring harvest kits for alumni to use for harvesting their own worm bins. This class is offered in partnership with the Gardiner Food Co-op and Cafe.
