Maine Winery Adventure
with Diann Bailey
Let us escort you in comfort as you sample specialty wines along a portion of the Maine Wine Trail. Experience the natural beauty of coastal Maine for a day of touring, tasting, and enjoying the best of Maine – in a bottle! Be sure to bring along a shopping bag and take home some of the best wines Maine has to offer.
Our first stop will take us to Sweetgrass Winery in Union where they use Maine grown fruits and grains to produce hand-crafted wines and spirits with a distinctive Maine terroir.
Just down the road is Savage Oakes Winery where they offer the state’s largest selection of Maine grown grape wines. Try First Kiss, Barnyard Red, Blushing Moose or Blue Moon. The names are as much fun as the samples!
A catered lunch including wine will be served at Breakwater Vineyards in scenic Owls Head where they grow 2500 grapevines on a 32 acre farm. Their Bees Knees Mead is a traditional favorite. The winery is named after the mile-long breakwater that protects the harbor in Rockland. A portion of the profits are donated to restoration efforts of the historic lighthouse.
From there we will travel to the always popular Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville, where we will have a guided tour of the winery and sample several different wines. Some of the favorites include Perfect Stranger, Queen Anne’s Lace, and Treasure.
