Bird Feeding Basics: Spring Edition
with Derek Lovitch
Join Derek Lovitch of Freeport Wild Bird Supply for this fun and informative program covering all of the topics that you need to create a perfect avian haven in your backyard! Food, water, and shelter are the basic components of survival, and we’ll learn how to supplement the natural environment to draw more birds to your yard and keep them happy and healthy. By selecting the best bird seed and offering it in different feeder styles and incorporating native plants that offer food and shelter, we’ll learn how to have more birds, and get more enjoyment from our backyards. We’ll cover the basics of the successful bird feeding station, including what to feed and what not to feed, types of feeders, problem-solving, and yes, of course, squirrel-proofing (and yes, It CAN be done!). The spring course will spend more time discussing bird houses, offering water, and attracting birds with native plants in order to have a well-rounded bird sanctuary.
