As the national dog of Turkey, the Kangal has a long history of protecting flocks across the countryside. Though relatively unknown in the United States, the Kangal population has grown and continues to be used as a livestock guardian. Please come and learn more about the Kangal, it's personality, job functions and lessons learned from Kangal ownership. They are wonderful but they are not for first-time dog owners. Sabana, our 4 year old farm and family protecting Kangal, will be on site. The Kangal is a member of the United Kennel Club.

The purpose of this workshop is to build the skills necessary for therapy dog visitations to facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, colleges, etc. Owners/dogs will prepare for and take the evaluation/test to become LOVE ON A LEASH Therapy Dogs and will complete the requirements to become an official Certified Therapy Team*. www.loveonaleash.org Workshop includes: Training adaptability so your dog will be comfortable in new settings and with unexpected situations. Maneuvering in tight spaces and around groups of people. Training to enhance skills such as sit, down, stay, settle, come and leave it. Techniques to help your dog interact with a resident in an elevated bed, chair or wheel chair. Skills for appropriate interactions with the elderly, children and disabled. Skills and patience for situations such as visiting with a college student sitting on the floor, a child sitting by the dogs side reading. Dogs from 1 year to senior are welcome as per Love on A Leash Guidelines. Dogs must have basic manners including sit, down, come, a brief stay while working on leash. Dogs must be comfortable working around other dogs and a variety of people. This class is not appropriate for dogs with fear, anxiety or reactivity issues. Rabies certificate is required at registration.

Special Collections Librarian, Dawn Thistle, will guide you through the library's collections, as well as other historical and online sources, to develop a timeline and narrative of the property you would like to explore - and you'll find yourself happily ensconced in plenty of Gardiner history, too!

Join this roundtable discussion to learn what you need to know before purchasing a digital camera. The discussion will range from point and shoot cameras to high-end digital single lens reflex cameras, with the instructor bringing a wide variety of examples to view. Interchangeable lens options (with examples provided by instructor) and purchase resources, both online and locally, will be discussed.
