Feta & Paneer Cheese

In this one session you will learn how to make feta and paneer cheese. Both are wonderfully versatile. Feta is usually made with goat milk. However, if you do not have a resident goat, Diana will also show you how to make a delicious feta using cow milk. Paneer is a acid curd cheese which is a staple in India. It has a delicious, creamy flavor which reminds one of mozzarella and baked ricotta. There are so many ways to use it! It can be crumbled, fried, sliced and cubed. It can also be stuffed into bread, mixed with fresh herbs, put into salads, soups, main dishes and much more. Best of all, it is easy to make using common kitchen tools. You will take home a small sample of both feta and paneer. Bring in 2 one pint containers. An added materials fee of $8.00 is due to the instructor at first class.

Preserving the Harvest - Salsa

Ever wonder how to preserve all those great garden vegetables? This hands-on food preservation workshop will teach you the basic steps for hot water bath canning and freezing. Students will learn how to make salsa by combining tomatoes, peppers, onion, and garlic with a variety of spices. They will also receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet, and will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, about equipment to ensure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. This class is a beginning-level class. Please bring a potholder with you to the workshop. You will be able to take home a jar of salsa! Materials fee of $20.00 is payable to instructor.
