Certified Nursing Assistant

Students enrolled in the CNA program will complete a minimum of 180 hours of theory, laboratory and clinical experience, meeting all requirements of the Maine State Department of Education. Upon successful completion of this program, the nursing assistant will be issued a certificate of training in compliance with the Maine State Board of Nursing. Basic skills learned will enable the Certified Nursing Assistant to deliver health care in hospitals, nursing home facilities, clinics and home-care situations. Course includes classroom theory, practice laboratory sessions and clinical experience to include rotations at the Maine Veterans Home. The course will conclude with the administration of the Maine State CNA Competency Exam. Students must have a physical, proof of immunizations, a recent TB test, grant permission for a criminal background check and pass a reading test. An information meeting, reading test and individual interviews will be held on Thursday January 19 at 5:30 pm at Gardiner High School. If you are interested in the C N A program, you must attend this meeting. Bring names and phone numbers of three professional references and a copy of your diploma. Payment is due at registration. Registration fee includes text books. Student limit is 10.

This program is taught by a Certified Dental Assistant ™ certificant and includes an opportunity for internships.

The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS® and ICE® exams and CPR certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS or ICE exams, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB.

This is a comprehensive program for Hospital Coding providing national certification as a COC that covers everything hospital billers need to know, from patient admission to accounts receivable management and HIPAA. It builds on your knowledge so that you can make a successful transition from the physician/outpatient environment to the hospital setting. This course covers the hospital regulatory setting, the structure and functions of hospital departments, patient accounts and data flow, the billing process, coding, claim forms, reimbursement, accounts receivable management, HIPAA requirements, and with updated electronic claim forms.
