Basic Beading

Have a fun learning experience while creating a piece of jewelry you can wear or give as a gift! The instructor will present different beading projects and give the group one-on-one instructions as needed. Feel free to bring any projects you may have started or beads you would like to include in your finished project. There is a $15 materials fee payable to instructor at class.


Bath Fizzies, Salt Scrubs, Etc.

Make bath time more fun! Create bath fizzies, salt scrubs, and melt and pour soaps. Create three quick and easy projects that make wonderful gifts for yourself or a friend! These are fun projects for rainy days and are sure to please everyone. Materials fee of $20.00 covers all supplies and is payable to the instructor at time of class.

This class will provide resources and information for anyone who wants to find the best deals for hotels, cruises, RV travel, AirBNB, escorted tours, and more. We will answer questions about RV driving to Alaska and the western US, how to get the lowest prices for escorted tours to almost anywhere, and getting great deals on hotels while traveling at home and abroad. Information will be presented on river cruises for less, as well as airfare tips. In addition, you will go home with valuable online resources.


Beginner Ukulele

With its chunk-a-chunk sound, whispery nylon strings, and diminutive body, the ukulele is having a moment. Find out why the ukulele is making a strong comeback in this beginner-level class. Students who have some experience with the ukulele are also welcome. Learn about tuning, strumming, fingerpicking, chords, reading tab...then put it all together to learn your first songs. Scales, technique, and easy music theory will also be discussed. Ukulele should be soprano, concert, or tenor size. Ukuleles are available to purchase at local music stores, eBay, or Amazon. Please bring an electric tuner. Students are asked to purchase Hal Leonard Ukulele Method, Book 1, ISBN 9780634079863, from bookseller of their choice.

Chalk Painting - Holiday Sign

Tis the Season for holiday signs! Invite your friends and have some crafty fun making your own chalk-painted holiday sign. The instructor will teach students how to apply paint and stencils, as well as distressing techniques. Students should bring a sanded piece of wood (up to 10" x 14"), stencil for sign, chalk brand paint in color of your choice for sign board, small bottle of acrylic craft paint for sign lettering, an apron, and small drop cloth. Instructor will provide brushes.

Christmas Sugar Cookies - Edible Art!

Join us for an evening of decorating amazingly artful sugar cookies with royal icing. Learn how to create piping with multiple techniques including pipe & flow; wet on wet; dry brush; faux knitting; sugar crystalling, and scrollwork. Cookies will be pre-baked for the class, but we will go over techniques for baking the perfect cookie to be a canvas for your icing artwork. We will mix icings together, learning how to tint and thin. Take home one dozen cookies, (two each of six different techniques.) Bring one cookie tray with lid or multiple shallow, flat containers with lids to take cookies home to dry. All cookies, icing, tools, and materials will be provided. Detailed instructions and recipes will also be provided to take home. A materials fee of $15 is payable to instructor at class.

Consumer Matters: Scams and More

Learn how to be a smart consumer and how to identify and avoid scams. In this class taught by Martha Currier, a Complaint Examiner from the Consumer Protection Division of the Maine Attorney General's office, get the answers to these questions: Why are there so many scams and do people really fall for them? How do I know whether that pop-up ad is legit? When I purchase something, what protections does Maine law provide? What tactics should automatically make me question whether an ad is authentic? What should I do if I fall for a scam? How can I avoid being a victim of identity theft? The Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Division fields approximately 12,000 calls per year and can answer all of these questions.
