Admissions Process & General Information Session - Understanding Blackboard & Online Learning

In this one-night workshop, students will learn the basic navigation required to participate in online courses through Blackboard, the online content management system used by many institutions, including the University of Maine at Augusta for online course participation. In addition, students will review the admission application process, talk about degree programs, placement testing, tuition and fees. Students attending will get their $40 UMA application fee waived and a free water bottle!

Mastering a few simple steps will allow you to focus on the content and demands of your class. We'll discuss the differences between bricks and mortar, blended, and online learning experiences and will address many of the questions you may have about returning to school via an online format.

In this class you will learn how to create an effective resume or improve the one you already have and how to transform your resume into a powerful tool that will make employers take notice! Learn about different resume formats and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Write an employment objective that demonstrates to potential employers that you have a clear focus. Capitalize on your work experience and understand what you should and shouldn’t reveal in a resume. Ascertain how to use references properly. You will reflect on your talents, achievements and experience to learn how to best showcase your skills and ambitions.
